INVERSE BUTCHER’S STRIPE COTTON TWILL
This mid-weight ecru cotton twill is woven with a weft stripe of Japanese rope-dyed indigo yarn picks, pushed to the surface of the cloth forming a raised stripe on the face only. The back of the fabric (seen on the plackets of Compass Pocket Shirts) does not have the contrasting indigo yarn visible.
The pattern for the fabric is taken from traditional British butcher’s aprons, which are navy blue with an evenly spaced white stripe, however here the colours are inverted. Over time the indigo yarn will fade and bleed slightly into the ecru cloth around it, making the fabric subtler and more personal.
