MOHAIR-COTTON SHAG
Shag fabric has a cut pile, where loops of yarn are raised up above the base and cut to create a hairy texture (the word comes from the Old Norse skegg, for beard). This cloth is woven with an ecru cotton base for durability, and a black mohair pile. Mohair is a particularly fine yarn, and is raised to a light fuzz all over the surface of both sides of the cloth- this creates the thickness and air-trapping warmth of a much heavier fabric, while keeping the garment itself extremely light.
