COTTON PANAMA
A panama weave is a stepped plain weave, sometimes likened to rows of laid bricks, and gets its name from the construction of Panama straw hats. This tight, firm cloth is milled very smooth and was historically used for nuns’ wimples. The ecru fabric is either scoured to preshrink it before cutting, or piece-dyed black.
