The Allotment coat is cut long and slim, with rounded tails split at the centre back. Large hand pockets are sewn into the side seams and the neck opening is hemmed without a collar.

The panels are fully lined in undyed beekeeper’s cloth before the garment is constructed. When the coat is dyed the lining takes on the full colour of the dye, while the dark blue outside remains more subtle.

Ich habe genug, BWV 82, by J. S. Bach, was written in 1727 as a solo cantata for bass. The words translate as ‘I have enough’, or, perhaps more eloquently, ‘I have all I need’. An allotment provides a small piece of land to grow vegetables and fruit, and experience the changing seasons. Tending to the plants and picking raspberries, wearing simple, thoughtfully constructed clothing, is enough.
