This pattern was originally made for socks produced for London Underground tunnel maintenance staff, who work in the off hours after the last trains.

A portmanteau of ʻsomersaultʼ and ʻplimsollʼ, Somersoll shoes are lightweight and unstructured, woven and assembled in England with 100% cotton canvas outers and linings.

Hand dyed with indigo in Kojima, the heel of one of each pair of socks is gripped tightly during dyeing, blocking the indigo and showing the undyed fabric underneath.
