TURMERIC
Turmeric (Curcuma Longa) has been used in the Indian subcontinent for thousands of years to dye clothing and flavour foods, and in religious ceremony.Turmeric is central to Hindu and Buddhist mythology- it is the colour of the sun, and is the dye used for wedding saris and Buddhist monks’ robes. In the Ayurveda system of traditional medicine (since ~1900BCE) turmeric-infused milk is used to cure many ailments.
Turmeric is particularly light sensitive, and fades over time to a lovely soft creamy yellow.
