CARROT
Tender’s orange garments are made and dyed in England, using colour extracted from Daucus carota– the edible carrot.
Carrots were naturally purple-red or yellow, the orange carrot was bred by the Dutch in the 16th Century. Dyeing with carrot pigment is quite difficult, and therefore rarely seen- the colour is quite soft and irregular, giving a uniquely subtle effect.Apart from dye and food, carrot fibre is fast-growing and similar to linen: it has historically been used for rope and paper making.
